What Determines a Measuring Wheel’s Price in South Africa?

There are many measuring tools and instruments available; each with its own pros and cons, making them perfect for different applications. There is, however, one measuring instrument that has been used for centuries and is still popular today. This instrument is the measuring wheel!

In this article, we will discuss the difference between mechanical and digital measuring wheels as well as what determines a measuring wheel’s price in South Africa.

Digital vs Mechanical Measuring Wheels and Their Price Difference

When it comes to modern-day measuring wheels one can either opt for a mechanical or digital wheel, the only true difference between the two is the technology used to make them and the effect that they have on the user.

Mechanical Measuring Wheel Price

Mechanical measuring wheels can function without having to be powered by batteries, making them an easy “pick up and go” option. They work and take measurements by making use of gears that have been built into their wheels. Because they do not have certain features such as a digital screen, they are more difficult to use at night.

Typically, both the short-term and long-term investment in a mechanical measuring wheel is more economical than that of a digital measuring wheel. The long-term financial saving is due to the fact that one does not have to constantly buy and replace batteries.

Digital Measuring Wheel Price

Digital measuring wheels are generally known to be more accurate in their measurements than their mechanical counterparts; however, the difference in accuracy is extremely minimal. Thus, it would depend on the project and the amount of accuracy needed when deciding between the two. They make use of magnets to perform their measurements. These magnets feed information to a processor. This processor then makes the necessary calculations, which are then displayed on a digital screen.

If you do need your measurements to be accurate by the millimetre then it is best to opt for a digital measuring wheel, even if it is slightly more expensive. After all, fixing a mistake on a project could cost a lot more in the long run.
